Fixed term vacancy with Warwickshire County Record Office

Having secured a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Heritage & Culture Warwickshire are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Engagement Officer to lead an exciting and innovative project working with communities across Warwickshire.  The successful candidate will be supported by members of the archivist team, including the Engagement Archivist, recently the recipient of Warwickshire County Council’s Star Award for Diversity & Inclusion, and the Senior Archivist, who will line manage the position.

They will identify and work with a wide variety of communities to support them in storing and caring for, understanding and recording their archival collections. The project will also begin work on compiling a directory of archives held within communities and promote their use to make more people across Warwickshire aware of these records and increase the number of people accessing the county’s diverse heritage.

This role will suit someone who can inspire individuals and bring communities together and has a passion for demonstrating the importance of heritage in community identity and the need to safeguard it for future generations.   The successful candidate, in conjunction with the Engagement Archivist, will develop and deliver a training programme to inspire and equip communities to look after and record their own collections. We are looking for someone with energy and imagination to make the most of a short-term contract and leave a lasting legacy for the people of Warwickshire.

The post is fixed term (six months) part time (30 hours per week) and not suitable for home working.

The closing date for applications is Monday 20th November 2023.  Interviews are expected to take place on Thursday 30th November 2023.
