Applying the DPC Rapid Assessment Model in your archive service

On Tuesday 9th March 2021, 10am – 12pm, AWM will be hosting an online workshop exploring the Rapid Assessment Model.

The Rapid Assessment Model was launched by the Digital Preservation Coalition in late 2020.  It’s aim is to provide a simple tool by which an organization can quickly assess the status of its digital preservation across all aspects – organizational, technical and functional – measured against a set of maturity levels.

This online workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to complete the RAM for their own service alongside fellow professionals.  The RAM will be broken down into sections and for each section there will be an opportunity to discuss how to assess a service against the criteria and compare responses.  The aim of the workshop is to work through the whole of the RAM so attendees first assessment which they can take away and refine.  The workshop will be facilitated by Elizabeth Oxborrow-Cowan, Consultant Archivist and AWM Trustee.

The workshop is free to AWM members.  For each member any number of staff are welcome to attend. However, you may wish to consider how to manage attendance e.g. one staff member only, have several staff who each complete the RAM separately to provide a range of opinion on the status of the service or work together to complete one RAM pulling on a range of expertise (although this will require you to have an alternative means of communication during the workshop to talk to your colleagues).

To book places on the workshop please contact the AWM Administrator, Katherine Seddon
