We’re very proud of the fact that we’ve made a great start to finding a collaborative solution to support individual services with digital preservation. The work we have completed has attracted the attention of the wider archive sector beyond the West Midlands and we have been asked to share our findings.
The report in the attachment gives an overview of the varying levels of readiness and engagement with digital preservation across the region.
One of the key themes to a collaborative approach was the production of templates policy and guides which could be used as a starting point for each service when creating their own documents.
The first two such pieces produced are a Digital Preservation Policy and Accessioning Guidance for Digital Material. These allow services to have confidence in addressing their digital preservation needs and to accept digital records.
Having made a great start to finding a collaborative solution we are keen to continue to find new and innovative shared solutions to allowing our services to progress with digital preservation.
