Archives West Midlands is a subscription based organisation for archives across the region. It uniquely pulls together a variety of organisations and a wealth of skills, knowledge and expertise into a single body, focused on supporting it’s members’ work by delivering practical support, professional knowledge and collaborative opportunities’
Membership is open to formal archive organisations within the West Midlands. Any member organisation is expected to be an Accredited archive or working towards archive accreditation.
Benefits of membership
AWM is committed to its members’ interests. All of its income is spent on member-focused activities. There are numerous benefits to membership:
- Free or at a subsidised training and development workshops for members’ staff
- Regular networking opportunities at member meetings
- Updating on professional issues and national initiatives through member meetings and the AWM website
- Free access to the ‘Digital Progress Progamme’ which provides practical encouragement to develop digital preservation in archive services
- Access to bespoke resources created by AWM for its members
- Engagement with regionally-focused projects
- Funding for regional projects raised by AWM
- Representation of the region by AWM to key bodies including The National Archives and the Archives and Records Association
- Input into templates and guidance documentation produced by AWM
- Professional development opportunities for staff by getting involved in AWM activities
- Promotion of service achievements, events and celebrations through the AWM social media accounts and in the Annual Review
- Friends and volunteers of subscribed members have their own development and networking day
